What We Do
The Center for Constitutional Values is a non-profit, 501(c)(3), formed to foster civic literacy through greater knowledge and understanding of the U.S. Constitution. We provide scholarships to encourage students to enhance their knowledge of the Constitution and our founding documents and to carry that knowledge forward in their post-secondary education. We also bring scholars and commentators on contemporary constitutional issues to foster a civil discourse of these issues among the community at large.
The Center was founded in 2013 by several individuals concerned that young people have the knowledge of the Constitution needed to assume their future responsibilities to lead our nation. Members of the initial Board of Directors laid the foundation for an annual academic scholarship competition and a community education program through an annual Speakers Series. We appreciate the important support of Hillsdale College in the launching of the organization.
Our goal is to expand educational opportunities for citizens and in particular, students, in order to strengthen civic support and commitment to the principles and values of individual liberty and opportunity set forth in the Declaration of Independence and how the Constitution secures those liberties through a governance framework built upon the consent of the governed.
